John Schneider

John Schneider has been described as a true Renaissance Man. Whether he’s acting, singing, writing hit songs or great scripts; the gifted storyteller has been entertaining us for 38 years.

John landed his first television role as Bo Duke in 1978 on Dukes of Hazzard. While working on the show, he starred in TV movies like Dream House and Happy Endings. He also played opposite Kirk Douglas on the big screen in Eddie Macon’s Run.

By the time Dukes was wrapping up in ‘85, Schneider was already on his way to Country Music Stardom. He signed with MCA Records in 1984, and built a catalogue of hits including: "I've Been Around Enough to Know," "Country Girls," "What's a Memory Like You," "You're the Last Thing I Needed Tonight," "A Memory Like You" and “At the Sound of the Tone”

Singing never got in the way of acting, as John continued landing movie roles in Gus Brown and Midnight Brewster, Cocaine Wars, Stagecoach, The Curse, and Ministry of Vengeance.

Throughout the 90s, the performer stayed busy with theatre and television. He was in off-Broadway musicals like "Brigadoon", “The Will Rogers Follies”, and “The Music Man” He landed TV roles in Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman, Burkes Law, JAG, Walker Texas Ranger, Touched by an Angel and so many other great shows.

John was cast in 2001 as Jonathan Kent, father of Clark Kent in Smallville. The show continued on the air until 2011, earning John a whole new generation of fans from around the world.

In 2013, John’s starring again on a hit TV series. He is Judge Jim Cryer in Tyler Perry’s The Haves and the Have Nots. The show continues it’s rating success, as a stand out hit for OWN.

Through all of his success in acting, John’s always had a passion for writing and directing. He’s focused more in recent years, on making his own films. His movie Smothered, a comedy horror story, has gotten great reviews. It’s set to be released to DVD and VOD in March 2016.

While shooting Smothered on location in Holden, Louisiana, John had the idea to establish John Schneider Studios. He then purchased the 58 acres, because he wanted other filmmakers shooting on a budget, to have an opportunity to tell their stories. The location mow has two soundstages (with more being built), two production houses, an editing bay, theatre, a river, lake, swamp, bamboo forrest and lots more. (A portion of the movie Hate Crime was shot here. John stars in the film, and is listed as a producer.)

John’s gone on to shoot more of his own movies at the studio, which he’s written and directed, including Anderson Bench, Like Son and Inadmissible and he’ll start on One Month Out in June of 2016.
